What an adventure!

What an adventure we’ve been on! Having had the dream of combining the Kidz Klub model with the Forest Schools concept for well over ten years, in September 2021 it started becoming a reality. We found a woodland site, we had a place to live nearby and lots of hopes about what could be. And so work began to turn the wood into a place that was easy to welcome children and others to – clearing a fire circle and building a shelter over it, putting toilet facilities in place and with a lot of help from friends building a natural play are. Alongside this, we managed to set up a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Then at Easter 2022 we welcomed our first group of children and parents, with much support from a lovely local church. Easter eggs were hunted, dens built, picnics shared and marshmallows toasted, with the children hearing the Easter story amongst it all. It was great having people in the woods and seeing how much the children got out of it. More family sessions happened over August and October as we prepared to start regular children’s sessions in November.

We’ve now had several sessions and the children are loving coming. It’s been so amazing to see children enjoying creation and hearing about how good God is at the same time. We’re already trying to work out how we can accommodate more children and sessions and are looking forward to being able to welcome more new children soon!
