About

Forest Kids is a new project in Ash that gives children and young people a chance to take part in bush-craft and nature activities in a woodland whilst learning about faith in Jesus. Taking part in activities outside is proven to improve people’s mental and physical well-being and is also likely to cultivate an interest in and care for the natural environment so we think it’s a pretty good way for children to spend their leisure time!

The project has been a long held dream to see children connect with nature whilst learning about the creator. Our Project Development Officer, Sarah Adamson, has drawn on experience of working with children in various contexts for most of her working life. As well as her experience running children’s clubs, her Forest Schools and Bushcraft training and her journey to becoming a Thrive Practitioner all add to the programme planning.

We’re so lucky to have several volunteers to help with Forest Kids who have a whole load of experience and skills with both the outdoors and children. Photos of some of them are below. We’d love to meet you – do get in touch. You can also follow our adventures on Facebook (icon at top right of page).

It’s been so exciting to experience God’s provision and faithfulness to this project. The encouragement and support we’ve received from friends old and new has also been incredible. We’re looking forward to seeing what lies ahead!
